Russell Day Gallery

COURTNEY LIANA WOOTEN, Phd

Russell Day Gallery presents:

SOCIALIZED STUDIES: art of collaboration

MIXED MEDIA & COLLABORATIVE EXHIBIT
JANUARY 2026
RECEPTION & SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT
JANUARY 14TH - 5PM - SUMMIT ROOM
LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER 102

Dr. Wooten's speaking engagement will explore collaboration as both a challenge and a creative necessity. It begins by asking why working together so often feels difficult—especially for students who may associate group projects with frustration rather than shared success—and how our broader culture tends to undervalue interdependence and co-creation. From there, the talk turns to why collaboration matters, making the case that meaningful, innovative work increasingly depends on our ability to work well with others. The heart of the presentation draws on my research into collaborative practice, examining what successful co-creation actually looks like in real life, along with lessons learned from both effective strategies and past failures as a facilitator. The talk concludes by looking at the collaborative works on display in the gallery, using them as living examples of these ideas and inviting the audience to consider their own role as collaborators in making meaning from what they see
