Everett Community College student ID cards are used to check out materials. Cards are available free to registered EvCC students in the Student Activities Service Center, 2nd floor, Parks Building. In lieu of the student ID card, other photo identification is required: either a driver's license, passport, military ID or Washington State ID card is acceptable.
Most materials may be checked out for three weeks. Material can be renewed by phone unless requested by another borrower. Newpapers, magazines, reference materials, and most media materials, including videos, must be used in the library. Call the Circulation Department at 425-388-9353 or email for more information.
Faculty often place materials, such as textbooks, answer keys and course-related articles on reserve at the check-out desk. Most of these materials are for use in the library only but must still be checked out with a library card.
Faculty librarians are available beginning at 8 a.m. during library open hours to help students learn to use resources and find information. Stop by the reference desk, call 425-388-9354, or Ask a Librarian for assistance.
Equipment is available for viewing or listening to audiovisual materials from the Library Media Center collection. Most audiovisual materials can only be used in the library but still require "check-out". Equipment is for use of library materials only.
The library has desktop and notebook computers available for in-library research use, wireless access for personal laptops, and netbooks that may be checked out for the quarter. More information is available at Library Computer Resources.
Several other computer labs are available on campus. Locations and operating hours of these other labs on campus are listed at EvCC Computer Labs.
The library has one black-and-white photocopier across from the check-out desk. It requires a copy card, which you can buy in the library, bookstore, or cashier's office for $2.00.
The library has several group study rooms. Some of the group study rooms contain audiovisual equipment. All the group study rooms have sign-up sheets next to the door. To sign up for time in one of the group study rooms, one member of each group must do so in person. The blank sign up sheets are always posted first thing Monday morning. These rooms are limited to groups of 2-6 people for four hours maximum per week.
Occasionally, students may need books or articles that are not available in the library. Librarians at the reference desk can usually help order these materials from other libraries at no cost to the student. Students must have a current EvCC Student ID card or proof of registration and photo ID.
Interlibrary loan takes an average of 3 days for articles and 10 days for books. (Some hard-to-find items may take longer.) Download and complete the Interlibrary Loan Request Form and give it to the reference librarian. The library absorbs the cost of borrowing materials, but patrons are responsible for any fees associated with late, damaged, or lost materials. These fees are set by the lending library and vary. There is a limit of 5 pending requests at a time.
Students will be notified by phone or e-mail when their book or article arrives. These item can be picked up from the library check-out desk. (Students may opt to have articles, but not books, mailed directly to their home address.) Users who repeatedly fail to pick up their requested items may be denied Interlibrary Loan service in the future. Contact the Reference Librarian at 425-388-9354 if you have any questions.
