Qaw’qs

Sarah Miller (2018)

The raven chose me,

pledged allegiance to me,

and game me the sun to hold.

The raven chose me,

mocked me relentlessly,

and laughed at me when everyone else did.

>

The raven chose me,

helped to mold me,

and wept when I broke into pieces.

The raven chose me,

screamed warnings to me,

and dropped feathers for me to find my way.

The raven chose me,

ended its life for me,

and wedged itself deep in my heart.

The raven chose me,

put out the fires for me

when holding the sun became too much.
