EVERETT, Wash. – The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a competitive $2.25 million Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant to Everett Community College.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a competitive $2.25 million Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant to Everett Community College. The college will receive $450,000 per year for the next five years. EvCC’s goals for the funding will be to improve college affordability and increase students' access to resources, increase flexibility in how and when credit is earned, and develop practices and policies to ensure seamless transitions between pre-college and college-level academics and between learning and careers.

Everett Community College is one of eleven community colleges nationwide that earned recognition from Achieving the Dream as a “Leader College of Distinction.”EvCC was recognized for increases in the number of students completing math and English requirements during their first year, year-to-year retention and degree completion. Achieving the Dream is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping more community college students, particularly low-income students and students of color, stay in school and earn a college certificate or degree. EvCC has participated in Achieving the Dream since 2011.
