Professional Research and Interests

A little about my research and work experience prior to teaching chemistry:

-B.S. - Colorado State University, Chemistry (Natural Product Research; isolation and synthesis of alkaloids from pine needles)

-Ph.D. - University of Washington, Chemistry (Organic synthesis; surface coatings; surface analysis; synthesis of organic compounds to use as one molecule coatings on metal surfaces for biomedical, sensors, nanoelectronics, and molecular motors applications; analysis of these surface using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy)

Postdoc - University of Washington, Bioengineering (biomaterial development using hydrogels; drug release material development; molecular coatings)

Lead Scientist, Head of Operations and Manufacturing - Asemblon, Inc. (development and synthesis of organic compounds used for molecular coatings on coinage metals; hydrogen fuel storage)
