Student Spotlight - Aldo Cisneros
Having worked in several departments across campus, Everett Community College student Aldo Cisneros has gained both educational and professional skills at EvCC. “I would say if you can, get a job on campus,” says Aldo, who plans to transfer to Washington State University to study Communications. “I have worked in a couple of different areas on campus and they have given me a lot of real-world and professional guidance.”
Tell me a little bit about yourself, including what you're studying here at EvCC.
I am Mexican-American. I have been attending EvCC for 3 years. I will be graduating this spring and I am studying business.
Why did you choose to attend EvCC?
EvCC is close to where I live and I heard from other people that it was a good school to go to.
What are your educational and/or career plans?
After I graduate from EvCC, I am going to transfer to Washington State University to study Communications.
What interested you about your area of study?
I wanted to be in a field where I could express myself while still being able to make a living.
How do you think the skills you're learning at EvCC are helping you reach your goals?
I have gained skills in photography, videography, video editing, and social media management, among others. All of these skills are very relevant and important for the field that I wish to go into after graduation.
Describe the best experience you've had at EvCC.
I have had many wonderful experiences at EvCC, but if I had to choose one it would be the time I got to go to the Cascade Learning Resource Center to use the studio to shoot video and photos of the mascot.
What's your favorite class project so far?
In my anthropology class I had to do a PowerPoint on an Old World civilization. I found myself being very interested in the history of different civilizations.
Who has helped you succeed at EvCC? What did that person do to help you?
I would have to say all of the past and current people that I have had the opportunity to work for. I have worked in a couple of different areas on campus and they have given me a lot of real-world and professional guidance.
What advice do you have for new students?
Honestly, I would say if you can, get a job on campus. Through working here I gained many skills, both professionally and in life. I also found community through making work friends and found mentors through my past and current employers.
