Student Spotlight - Sheridan Moore
Recipient of a 2019 Outstanding Graduate award, Sheridan Moore got her start at EvCC in the Running Start program, and graduated with her Associate degree in Global Studies. Next stop, Pacific Lutheran University — where she will complete her Bachelor's degree in Global Studies, while minoring in French and Statistics. Sheridan says the instructors had a big impact on her because, "they were both passionate about what they were teaching, and open to engaging with the students."
What did you study at EvCC?
I was in the Running Start program, and graduated with an Associate of Arts and Sciences DTA with a focus in Global Studies.
Why did you choose EvCC?
I chose EvCC because of its reputation, the updated amenities and overall cleanliness of the campus, and friends and family who attended EvCC.
Who helped you succeed at EvCC? What did that person do to help you?
I would say the class instructors themselves were the most influential to me, and the people I had the most contact with. I got to know several of the faculty who taught my classes, and it always made a big impact on me when they were both passionate about what they were teaching, and open to engaging with the students.
What advice do you have for new EvCC students?
I would advise new students to take advantage of the opportunities for student engagement as soon as possible, such as clubs or campus events.
What do you plan to do next?
In the fall, I will be attending Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Washington. I will be majoring in Global Studies, with minors in French and Statistics, and also participating in their International Honors program.
Describe the best experience you had at EvCC.
I would definitely say that one of the best experiences (of many) was being nominated as an Outstanding Graduate!
