Welcome to the 2021 Virtual Student Art Exhibition, the Russell Day Gallery's annual celebration of Everett Community College's creative students and hardworking graduates. Due to the continued closure, we are once again hosting this event digitally. This year's show is brought to you by the students in Art 297: Gallery and Exhibit Technique.

Every spring the Russell Day Gallery hosts a Student Art Exhibition to acknowledge Everett Community College's creative students and to celebrate our graduates. The physical gallery is temporarily closed to the public so this year we have gone digital. Welcome to the 2020 Virtual Student Art Exhibition! Claire Cowie: Method in the Madness
February 12 - March 19
Opening Reception with the artist: February 12, 12:00-2:00pm
Claire Cowie teaches Printmaking in the Interdisciplinary Visual Arts Program at the University of Washington. This survey of Cowie's prints spans 28 years, and includes etchings, woodcuts, screen prints, monotypes, and photogravures. Reflective of Cowie's experimental temperament, the work ranges in theme from tragic to comedic to contemplative.

Tyna Ontko: Anima
January 6 - February 7
Opening Reception with the artist: January 9, 12:00-2:00pm
Tyna Ontko is a Seattle based sculptor and installation artist whose studio practice is influenced by her research on a wide range of topics including autobiography, art history, ecology, and the social sciences. Her work combines elements of carved wood with found objects to create uniquely built environments from which she asks the viewer to step away from what is known, toward the realm of what is possible.

Miha Sarani: Flip Side
November 4 - December 9
Opening Reception with the artist: November 7, 12:00-2:00pm
Miha Sarani is visual artist from Slovenia who lives and works in Seattle. His paintings and drawings capture moments from everyday life, while maintaining a dialog with the past and addressing the cyclical occurrences of history. Flip Side features two distinct modes of stylistic representation as his work moves into and out of abstraction.
Henry Jackson-Spieker: Material Tension
September 23 - October 31
Opening Reception with the artist: September 26, 12:00-2:00pm
Henry Jackson-Spieker is a Seattle based sculptor and installation artist whose work elegantly incorporates a combination of blown glass, cast bronze and cut wood. He balances organic forms with geometry as he challenges the inherent properties of each material to create situations of physical tension.
