Study Abroad - World Languages Department Programs

The fastest way to learn another language is by immersing yourself in the culture and language. The World Languages Department currently has four exciting study-abroad options available:

Study in Ecuador - Summer 2019

Study in Spain 2018: University of Valladolid

Thanks to a partnership with the University of Valladolid, students can study the Spanish culture and language in the beautiful city of Valladolid in the heart of Castile. This charming city will captivate you with its history, architecture, and rhythm of life.

Current-year information is not available.  However, course content will likely be similar to the 2016 information.  Prices may vary.

Option I: Four-Week Summer 2016 Program includes:

  • Intensive study of the Spanish culture and language (4 weeks, 20 hours per week = 80 hours)
  • Accommodation with a host family; includes private room, full board, and laundry
  • Guided sightseeing tour around the historical and administrative quarter of Valladolid
  • Three guided excursions to different places around the province or region

2016 Summer Program Dates (four sessions to choose from):
May 26 - June 29
July 4-29
August 1-26
September 5-30
Approximate Program Cost: $3,500*
 

Option II: Fall Quarter 2016 Program includes:

  • Intensive study of the Spanish culture and language (11 weeks, 15 hours per week = 165 hours)
  • All other features listed in Option I above

2016 Program Dates :  October 3 to December 16
Approximate Program Cost: $7,000*

*Prices for both options subject to change, based on rate of currency exchange.
Not included in either option: airfare or ground transportation, health insurance, cost of EvCC credit(s), personal expenses and passport fees.

Participants in both programs must enroll in Spanish 299 for 1 credit, but may enroll for up to 5 credits in Spanish 299. Students wishing to earn EvCC credits for the following courses by way of course challenge may earn up to 5 credits: Spanish 121,122, 123, 221, 222 and 223. Regular tuition policies apply for all EvCC credits and are not included in the quoted program costs, so additional fees will be incurred.

Students who already meet EvCC’s requirements for financial aid and who are interested in participating in the study abroad program should speak with an EvCC Financial Aid advisor for further information on available funding. In general, Spanish 299 and course challenge credits cannot be earned until the quarter following participation in the study abroad program.
