Dr. Christine Malone

Hello! My name is Christine Malone and I am one of the instructors in the Healthcare Management programs here at EvCC. I’ve been in healthcare for over 30 years and have been teaching at EvCC since 2004. I have degrees in professional management, business administration, healthcare administration, and leadership.

One of my favorite things about teaching here at EvCC is seeing students learn new skills to head into a new career path. There is a space for everyone in the field of healthcare – you just need to find your spot and let us help you achieve your goals. One thing about our group – we are always here for our students and dedicated to seeing them succeed.

Karla Pouillon

Hi Everyone!  My name is Karla Pouillon and here's a bit about me:  My educational and professional background encompasses the past 40+ years.  I graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta in 1979 and became a Registered Nurse that same year. I have been a practicing RN in some capacity or other since then. Among other things, I was a float nurse at UWMC for 18 years, a triage nurse on San Juan Island, a nurse consultant on the Big Island of Hawaii, and a teacher since 1983.

In addition to my nursing degree, I have a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Central Washington University (1983) and a Master's in Education from the UW Bothell (1999). Before coming to EvCC in 1994, I taught nursing at Renton Technical College, medical assisting at Edmonds Community College, and anatomy and physiology at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, among other things. Here at EvCC, I started out teaching for Business Technology in their medical office programs, then I moved over to the clinical side of things in 1999 to start the Health Sciences department.  I am now back with the Business division and excited to be part of our growth in the Healthcare Management arena.  Currently, I am the Program Director for Medical Coding, and work closely with the Business Department Chair, Lynne Munoz, to enhance and expand our programs.

That's enough about my professional life!  What do I do for fun?  I love to hike, dance, ski, mountain bike, and all things "outdoors," plus I love yoga!  Oh, and travel is my passion!  I love the Susan Sonntag quote, "I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list."  That's me in a nutshell!

Sandra Andrade

Greetings and thanks for checking out our department page here at EvCC! My name is Sandra Andrade and am one of the faculty members in the Healthcare Management department. I have an associate degree in Health Information Technology with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Health Information Management. In addition, I am credentialed with professional certifications from AHIMA and AAPC.

My journey in healthcare started almost 20 years ago and spans across various healthcare settings. My expertise is in medical coding and revenue cycle management. I continue to work in the industry and can identify current trends in healthcare that will be beneficial to your academic success. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to teach courses in medical office programs, medical billing, health information management, and medical coding. One of my interests in teaching is being an advocate for students as future healthcare professionals through mentoring and participation in professional associations. One of the great benefits of pursuing a career in healthcare management is the evolving changes in healthcare, which means we never stop learning!

In my free time, I enjoy time outdoors hiking, exploring any coastal beaches, and sampling a wide array of coffees throughout the region. It would be my pleasure to help you explore some of our department program and career opportunities by starting your journey here at EvCC.

Wendy Earthsong

Hello everyone! It's nice to meet you as you begin exploring the healthcare administration certificates and degrees offered at EvCC. If you decide to enroll in MC/HCM courses at EvCC I’ll be one of your instructors. I’ve been teaching healthcare-related courses for 25 years. I have over 30 years in the healthcare field as an administrator and consultant. I look forward to introducing you to the critical role the healthcare administrative workforce plays in the overall health of the population in the U.S. and beyond.

I started my career in healthcare as a CNA in the early 1980s. In 1987 I began my administrative career as a manager in a dermatology clinic. From there I worked in neuro, ortho, rheumatology, and at the local hospital. During my healthcare career, I have specialized in revenue cycle management (including billing, coding, and collections), medical/legal issues, documentation compliance, health information system implementation, personnel management, fiscal systems analysis, business communications, organizational management, and staff training.

While working in the healthcare field, I began teaching at a community college in 1998. I developed and taught the administrative classes for the medical assisting program. Over the course of my career, I have taught Medical Coding/Billing, Medical Assisting, Health Information Management, and Allied Health students in topics ranging from coding and billing to medical legal, quality, health information management, leadership, and health information technology and much more. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, the AHIMA CCA and CCS-P coding certificates, and the CHPS certification in healthcare privacy and security.

On a Personal Note: I grew up in Central Oregon, in Bend. These days I spend most of my time on the Oregon coast. I love spending time with Captain Jack, my long-haired dachshund and boon companion. My family, and friends. I'm an outdoor enthusiast. I spend as much time as I can outdoors. I enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking and being in nature.
