Josh Searle, Winner of the 2017 Anna Sue McNeill Award

English Instructor Josh Searle was recognized at the 2017 Assessment, Teaching and Learning Conference in Spokane, WA with the Anna Sue McNeill Award for excellence in outstanding innovation and contributions to assessment, teaching and learning. Josh was recognized for his extensive contribution to both teaching excellence and leadership. He pioneered faculty norming sessions within the English Department as well as outside his division. Josh's leadership in the ORCA program led him to develop workshops on interdisciplinary learning and programmatic student assessment. He is actively engaged in research with both colleagues and students; as chair for the last four years of the Assessment Committee has led the instructional effort to re-develop and institutionalize a systematic program review process. In the nomination written by Interim Executive Vice President Gail Miulli she says that Josh's "many contributions to teaching and learning are validated by our students' continued success. He is innovative and dynamic in his work."
