Endowed Scholarships - General

Archie and Jeanne Baker Memorial Established to honor their commitment to student success, Archie was an EvCC Trustee and Jeanne taught in the Early Childhood Development program. 

Bill and Blanche Bettoney Blanche's gift pays tribute to her husband who retired from EvCC in 1974 and was recognized with the "Employee of the Year" award. This scholarship assists displaced workers who are returning to EvCC to pursue technical and/or professional training.

Dr. Willard Bill Memorial Dr. Bill was a Muckleshoot tribal member and respected national leader in Indian Education. His legacy supports American Indian and Alaskan Native student success. Eligible students include descendants of the indigenous peoples of the US and Canada. 

Daniel and Phyllis Bonneywell Everett natives, Dan & Phyllis, both worked at Robinson Plywood. This endowment was established to honor their commitment to the Everett community. 

Deller Family Bill Deller served many years at EvCC as Dean of Students. This scholarship recognizes his dedication to students and his continued efforts to ensure their success. 

Harry and Jean Ellis This endowment was established in 2005 by Jean to honor her husband, Harry, and his love for learning. 

Earl W. Husted and Ella Husted Emery A 1924 graduate of Everett High, this scholarship reflects Ms. Emery's love for Snohomish County and higher education. The scholarship was established as a gift to commemorate Shuksan Hall in 1999. 

Laura Glynn Memorial Laura Glynn was one of four daughters, all of whom attended Everett Community College. Laura became the first woman to serve as ECC’s Student Body President in 1966. Among her duties as Student Body President, Laura was especially pleased to be able to introduce U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy during his visit to the ECC campus on October 24, 1966. Laura Glynn embraced the values of the Enlightenment, including a commitment to the search for knowledge, and truth, as well as the desire to improve the human condition. She would have enjoyed getting to know all about the lives, dreams, and accomplishments of the recipients of the Laura Glynn Memorial Scholarship Endowment at ECC, funded by contributions from her family and friends.

Orwin and Ruth Hageman Orwin "Doc" Hageman, who graduated from Granite Falls High in 1934, established this scholarship to help fellow Granite Falls graduates realize their dreams of higher education. 

Holland Tovrea Andy Holland's legacy of giving back continues with this endowment and with the annual Spirit of Giving award which is named for him and given to honor people who provide exceptional service to their community. 

Sarah and Knut Kravik Memorial Knut Kravik was the owner of Pacific Grinding Wheel Co. and a member of the Everett School Board. His wife, Sarah, was a graduate of Everett High and was well known as a community volunteer.  

Henry Frank Lupien Jr. Memorial Mr. Lupien graduated from Everett Junior College in the 1940s after serving in the Pacific during WWII. 

Liz McLaughlin This scholarship was established to honor Liz McLaughlin's lengthy list of accomplishments on behalf of the people of Snohomish County. 

Florence Prochau Memorial With only a formal education through fourth grade, Florence Prochnau earned her high-school equivalency certification and a degree with honors in practical nursing at Everett Community College. Her son John Prochnau and his wife Barbara established this scholarship in her honor. 

Henry and Donna Robinett A scholarship established in 2010 by the Robinett family, longtime supporters of education in Snohomish County. 

John D. Shawger Memorial John spent his career at EvCC teaching music. He also directed performance groups including The Everett Symphony. 

The Stutchell Family Established in 2006 to honor the Stuchell family's commitment to the Everett Community. 

Students of Color Established to support Snohomish County students who attend the annual Students of Color Career Conference. 

Jerry and Margaret Svec Established with an estate gift from the Jerry and Margaret Svec Trust. Margaret was a founding English faculty member at Everett Junior College in 1941. 

Endowed Scholarships - Area of Study

Business Economics

John Arends II Scholarship supports a student in business administration.

Thrall Nordlund Enid Thrall Nordlund was born and raised in Snohomish County. Enid was a founding member of the Snohomish County Historical Museum. This scholarship reflects her quest for lifelong learning. 

Karrie Porter Scholarship this scholarship is designated for a student studying business. John (Jack) Arends III took classes from Professor Porter and created this scholarship to honor her work.

Education

Eugene Chase Ms. Lotte Chase established a scholarship to honor the memory of her husband, a longtime Everett teacher. Gene, Lotte's son, is a former EvCC Trustee and a past member of the Foundation Board. 

J.F. and Mabel Crandall Endowed this scholarship is to support a student planning a career in education.

Frederick Giles Dr. Giles served as president of EvCC prior to assuming his position  as Dean of Education at the University of Washington. This scholarship recognizes his dedication to education. 

Health Sciences

Stuart Barger The family of Stu Barger created this scholarship in memory of Stu, who was hired as a nursing faculty member at EvCC in 1983. He later served as division dean, vice president for Instruction, and a senior assistant to the president over a 31-year career. 

Nursing 

Helen Bast Degge The granddaughter of the first pioneers to settle in Everett, Helen Bast Degge spent her entire life in Everett. She graduated with the first class of nurses at Seattle's Providence Hospital. This scholarship commemorates her lifelong commitment to the nursing profession. 

Donna Dombeck Memorial Donna attended EvCC from 1954-1955, then graduated from the Seattle University School of Nursing in 1959. Jane Squires Hart established this fund as a tribute to her friend. 

Orwin and Ruth Hageman Orwin "Doc" Hageman established this scholarship to honor his daughter, who pursued a career in nursing. 

Heidi Hutchinson Everett Orthopedic Surgeon Thomas Hutchinson, MD, established this scholarship in memory of his wife. Heidi attended Everett Community College from 1958-1960, graduating from the 2-year RN program, then affiliated with General Hospital of Everett. Afterward she worked as an RN at Everett General Hospital, and in doctor's offices in Everett and North Seattle for 27 years, retiring from her profession in 1987. She passed away from Alzheimer's disease on May 12, 2020. 

Carol Turner Endowed The Carol Turner endowed scholarship was established in 2022 to honor this 1979 graduate of the college's nursing program. Carol approached her nursing career with empathy and integrity, and continued her dedication to the profession into her 70's. Her daughter, along with the O'Brien and Turner families started this scholarship in her memory.

The Wilbur E. and Betty J. Wright Memorial goes to a student in the nursing program at Everett Community College. Family members of Mr. and Mrs. Wright including Susan Goebel were instrumental in establishing the endowment that will serve students for years to come.

Music

Margaret Cooper Margaret Kline Cooper was an EvCC alumnus, majoring in piano. She served as vice president of the student government in 1945-1946. 

Shepherd Family The Shepherd family has enjoyed and benefited intellectually from the study and performance of music. Through this scholarship, the family wishes to pass on this love, regardless of a student's ultimate career choice. 

Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math 

OJ Harper  Mr. Harper enjoyed a successful career in the manufacturing industry and established this fund to help students with tuition, books, and fees. In addition to this fund, Mr. Harper provided funding for a vehicle used by the college to gather donations of equipment and scrap metal for use in our manufacturing program. 

Endowed Scholarships - Transfer

Frank J. Sieminski The natural environment gave Frank wisdom and brought him peace. Preservation of the environment was one of the most important things in his life. In memory of their loving husband and father, his family dedicates this scholarship to his passion.
