Alumni Spotlight - Aaron Crawford
Growing up in a musical family, Aaron Crawford was at home singing and playing, starting with the foundation of church music. Aaron graduated from Snohomish High School, where he studied music and sang in the jazz choir. Later attending EvCC, Aaron fronted a couple of bands, eventually forming multiple bands, writing four independently released albums, and playing throughout the northwest and west coast. “Everett Community College was a great place for me to start my creative career,” says Aaron. “Not only was the education important, but the environment to build relationships helped foster my first music projects. I formed friendships that are still growing to this day.” To learn more about Aaron’s latest music, visit: reverbnation.com/crawfordaaronmusic
What is your current occupation/career?
I'm a musician.
How did you choose EvCC? Was there a selection process involved in your decision making?
A few of my friends had done Running Start and had great things to say about it. It was also a very cost-effective way to continue my education. I looked at traditional, four-year schools, but wasn't ready to pull the trigger on what I wanted to study, or even where. EvCC helped me get my essential classes taken care of, while at the same time, exploring some other courses that were interesting to me.
Do you think your time at EvCC helped you pursue your current career? If so, how?
Absolutely! I learned not only music, but communication skills that directly benefit me on stage, as well as interpersonally.
What did you do after you left EvCC?
I transferred to Northwest University and continued my education to eventually include a degree in music.
What words of advice would you give to current EvCC students?
I would encourage them to take classes that you are passionate about. It's a great place to explore what might become a career for you.
