Everett Community College has selected Hayley Statema and Trent Tingelstad as the college’s 2024 Distinguished Alumni.

Trent Tinglestad and Hayley Statema

The distinguished alumni award is the highest honor given to Everett Community College and Everett Junior College alumni. The award honors those who have demonstrated leadership in their chosen professions and distinguished themselves through service to their communities.

Hayley StaetmaHayley Statema is proud to be a first-generation college student. She began attending EvCC during high school through the Running Start program. “At EvCC, I discovered a love for communications through a journalism elective,” she recalls. “Through EvCC student life, I got involved in different advisory committees and fundraising—opportunities that taught me a love for investing in the local community. These things carry through everything I do now.” After graduating EvCC, Hayley transferred straight to WSU-Everett. “EvCC made it possible for me to go on to finish my bachelor’s degree with no debt,” she enthuses in an alumni spotlight article

Trent Tingelstad saw EvCC as an opportunity to not only join an outstanding baseball program, but to also take high-level courses that could transfer to a four-year college. “EvCC’s baseball program definitely helped get to me to where I am today,” he says. “I worked hard to get my degree and move on to a four-year school for baseball as well.” Trent attended the University of Louisiana Monroe for a year on campus and is currently in the eULM online program, working toward a major in business administration. Currently a left-hand hitting outfielder for the AquaSox, Trent has helpful advice for current students: “EvCC is a great place to get your college career started. If you’re not sure what you want to do, the staff at EvCC will guide you in the right direction. EvCC’s courses will lay the foundation to potentially move on to a four-year institution.”
