To update your personal information, after you have activated your ctcLink account, login to ctcLink. From the Student Homepage, click on Profile. Click the [ + ] to add new personal information.

Preferred Email Address

We strongly recommend using your student email address. This email address will be sent to the U.S. Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and will be your email of record for your immigration status. We are only allowed to send your I-20 immigration documents to this email address because it’s what’s listed in SEVIS.

List the address where you live now in the United States (where you keep your toothbrush). Do not use a P.O. Box or an international address.

Mailing Address

List the address you currently use for receiving mail (where you have your new toothbrush you just ordered mailed to). You can use a P.O. Box here, but do not list an international address.

Permanent Address

The place outside of the United States you go back home to visit when you’re not in the U.S. taking classes. This needs to be an international address (outside of the United States).

Legal Name

Your name as it appears on the machine readable portion of your passport.

Preferred Name

This is your preferred name that will show up in the U.S. Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and listed on your form I-20. You can use special characters, such as an umlaut.

Phone Number

Whatever number you list will be converted to a U.S. phone number and sent to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). You can list an international phone number, but the one marked as preferred is the one that will be sent to SEVIS as a U.S. phone number.
