Malcolm X Day Celebration

For Malcolm X Day this year, we have decided to celebrate Black excellence with our Black Student Union students, graduates and alumni. We will be welcoming Ilyasah Shabazz as we celebrate the life and legacy of her father, Malcolm X. This event has been put together to celebrate African and African American student achievement, but is open to students, faculty, staff, administrators and campus community of all cultures/identities. Ilyasah Shabazz: 
The daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, Ilyasah Shabazz is an author, community organizer, social activist, and motivational speaker. She is most known for her memoir, Growing Up X which was nominated for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work, Nonfiction. She has also written Malcolm Little: The Boy Who Grew Up to Become Malcolm X, a children's book about her father's childhood. Shabazz will be joining us for a meet and greet along with a discussion on growing up during the Civil Rights Era as the daughter of Malcolm X.
