Welcome Week: Diversity & Equity Center

We look forward to seeing you at the Diversity & Equity Center Welcome Week from September 14-16! Please sign up for whichever session best fits you, as well as the general session. Each session is lead by their corresponding program manager, a D&E team member who will help you with your academic career.

The Diversity and Equity Center supports the needs of underrepresented communities both on and off campus through focused retention programming, community events, identity based clubs, institutional initiatives, and connections to resources. We offer one-on-one student services, Work Study, Scholarships and much more. Come learn how you can get involved and learn about the various resources we have to offer!

Please attend one or more of the following which best suits you:

Latinx/Undocumented - Session | Wednesday, Sept. 14th | 2 - 3pm @ Henry M. Jackson Center 106 and available on Zoom

In this session we will learn what The Diversity & Equity Center has to offer for first year Latinx and Undocumented students. Along with learning the support services and involvement in student clubs like MECHA and Latinx student Union.

Safe Zone, LGBTQIA+ - Session | Wednesday, Sept. 14th | 3 - 4pm @ Henry M. Jackson Center 106 and available on Zoom

This session will offer a space for LGBTQIA+ students to connect and learn about resources, scholarships and opportunities on campus. We will also provide information about clubs such as Triangle Alliance and campus committees such as Safe Zone, which works to help make EvCC's campus more inclusive of our LGBTQIA+ community based on student input. This will also open a space for discussion on ways we can support our LGBTQIA+ community on campus.

Native American & Indigenous, and Pacific Islander - Session | Thursday, Sept. 15th | 2 - 3pm @ Henry M. Jackson Center 106 and available on Zoom

This session will offer a chance for our Native & Indigenous and Pacific Islander students to connect with one another and build a sense of community. We will discuss opportunities on and off campus, as well as how to get involved in clubs such as First Nations Club. This will also open a space for discussion on ways we can support both our Native & Indigenous and Pacific Islander communities on campus

African/African American, College in the High School - Session Friday, Sept. 16th | 2 - 3pm @ Henry M. Jackson Center 106 and available on Zoom

In this session we will be discussing what Diversity & Equity has to offer first year students, as well as the College in the High School Scholarship, Black Student Union and African Diaspora Clubs, events for African/African American students, and meet members of our Black Employee Affinity group!

General D&E - Session | General Information session | Wednesday, Sept. 14th | 11am -12pm @ Henry M. Jackson Center 106 and available on Zoom

At the D&E session, you will learn about opportunities, activities, and further information about both the Diversity & Equity Center and EvCC itself. We will be providing information about our student groups, clubs, events, other on campus resources such as TRiO, MESA, Student LIFE and iBEST. You'll also get information about scholarships, financial aid, tutoring, advising and more!
