WSFF JATC Guided Enrollment

Billing & Payment Schedule

Approximately 21 days into the quarter, EvCC will confirm participation of each apprentice registered. At the end of each quarter, EvCC will submit an invoice to the WSFF JATC program at the JATC rate (approx. 1/2 of regular tuition & college fees; regular lab fee/supply and textbook costs will still apply).

Upon each apprentice's successful completion of the course (achieving a 2.0/grade C or higher), the WSFF JATC will in turn submit an invoice for a portion of the cost to each department. Please note that students who do not complete a course or achieve of a grade of less than 2.0/C will be responsible for the tuition, fees, and other associated costs, albeit at the JATC discounted rate.

Tuition, Fees, & Textbooks

Tuition and fees are 50% of full price for apprentices and approximate rates for the current year are below. Employers of apprentices who successfully complete each course will have in turn 25% of full price reimbursed by the Washington State Firefighters JATC program. Employers of apprentices who do not achieve a 2.0 (C or higher) in a given course will not be eligible for WSFF JATC partial reimbursement for that course, and will be invoiced the balance for the JATC reduced rate tuition and fees by EvCC. For courses outside the WSFF JATC curricula, apprentices will be charged full regular tuition and fees.

Enrollment Instructions for WSFF JATC Apprentices

Each new student to EvCC, including JATC apprentices, must enroll at the college. Returning EvCC students will be required to reactivate their accounts and ensure that their information is up-to-date. This takes only a few simple steps.

REQUIRED STEPS
1. Complete Admissions

Are you new to EvCC? Fill out an online Admissions form. You will need to make an account by clicking “Set Up My Web Admissions Account” after clicking that link. Follow the instructions, select Professional-Technical>Fire Science AAS-T (FIGFSAAS) as your program, and submit. You will receive a welcome email within two weeks. Students returning to EvCC who have not been registered for 12 months or longer should re-activate by also submitting an online Admissions form (everettcc.edu/ReturningStudents).

If you're a returning student or have received your welcome email: You will need to retrieve your student ID number and activate your ctcLink account. If you receive an error message, please email admissions@everettcc.edu or and CC: techhub@everettcc.edu. They may direct you to complete an updated Admissions form.

NB: Other EvCC Enrollment steps, such as Online Orientation, Placement, and Entry Advising, are waived for WSFF JATC apprentice students. (However, apprentice students will need to complete these steps before registering for other degree courses outside of the JATC curriculum).

2. Each Apprentice Completes a FERPA Student Release of Information Form

Once each apprentice completed Admission and has a student username and an EvCC ctcLink Student ID#, they should complete a Release of Student Information form and complete it as follows:

  • Fill in your basic <Student Information> at the top of the form.
  • Check <via emails> and list your fire department (employer) billing contact email AND the WSFF JATC billing contact (KFreyberg@wsffjatc.org Kim Freyberg) as the parties with which to share information.
  • Check <phone> and list your fire department billing contact phone number AND the WSFF JATC billing contact (206.249.8582 Kim Freyberg).
  • Under "What information are you authorizing..." Check <All>. This will allow the college to discuss their academic progress with their department and the WSFF JATC program, without being in violation of FERPA privacy laws.
  • For the End Date ensure you allow for enough time for each apprentice to complete their curriculum, which means you should choose a date approximately 3 years in the future.
  • Name, sign, and date at the bottom of the form.
  • Submit it online.

3. Register for Courses

Ideally, a fire department will register all of their apprentices for each academic quarter at the same time. There are two ways to do this:

Please note that there is an additional application that apprentices need to complete to register for EMS 151 EMT. Once an apprentice has applied for admission and received a welcome email, they can use their student username and password (not their ctcLink Student ID#) to self-enroll in one of the following EMT applications:

  • Click Here for Application to the daytime EMT course designed for Snohomish County firefighters M–F 8am–5pm, Jan 2–Feb 16
  • Click Here for Application to the regular, open enrollment EMT course offered fall, winter, or spring that runs Sat all-day and Mon/Wed from 6:30–10pm (affiliated applicants must attempt but are not required to pass the EMS Pre-test requirement)

OPTIONAL BUT SUGGESTED FURTHER STEPS
4. Complete Canvas Training

At Everett Community College, many of our courses have an online component and use a software called Canvas to facilitate them. If you have not previously used Canvas, please complete training to become more familiar with how to use it.

5. Complete Evaluation for Potential Transfer Credits

Have you ever wondered if you could apply previous college credits and training certificates to the Fire Science AAS-T? Find out where you stand! Read the instructions hereThis step is optional.
