Liberty Hall Opens
EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Community College and the Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic are celebrated the opening of Liberty Hall June 5, 2013.
The three-story, $37.5 million facility, is located at 930 North Broadway next to the college’s Fitness Center.
In addition to EvCC classrooms and labs, the 72,000 square foot building is the new home of the Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic, which was located across the street.
The new expanded Clinic has 20 exam rooms and areas for education and shared medical appointments for diabetes and chronic disease management. The Clinic also serves as a hands-on training venue for EvCC’s healthcare programs and the University of Washington School of Nursing’s nurse practitioner program.
Liberty Hall is home to the EvCC’s nursing, medical assisting and phlebotomy programs and other health sciences training, plus EvCC's criminal justice program. The building opened to students and faculty April 1, 2013, the start of EvCC’s Spring quarter.
Liberty Hall triples the amount of laboratory space for health sciences programs and includes new technology to train healthcare professionals. The new space gives EvCC room for more students in the nursing, medical assisting, phlebotomy and nursing assistant certified programs.
The building includes a clinical simulation lab, which has four mannequin "patients" that can be programmed to do almost everything real patients can do, including exhibit symptoms, get CPR, and receive medication through an IV.
Liberty Hall also has high-tech classrooms, including lecture halls designed for new ways of student learning.
The building is named after Liberty Mountain, located approximately three miles directly south of Three Fingers and stands as another prominent peak on the far western flank of the Cascades
The college chose the name Liberty Hall after seeking suggestions from the campus and the community. EvCC historically names its buildings after peaks of the Cascade and Olympic mountains.
The architect is SRG Partnership, Inc. of Seattle and the general contractor is Olympia-based Berschauer Phillips Construction Co., Inc.
