Press Release from Kōz Development

Kōz Development announces EvCC student housing building

Snohomish, Wash. – Kōz Development, Inc., a Snohomish-based real estate development and architecture firm, announced today the acquisition of three key parcels within the Everett Community College master plan area. The parcels will be aggregated into one lot and will soon be home to the newest Everett Community College student housing facility.

The project will consist of 120 student rooms, common areas for the residents to gather, and an outside courtyard. Kōz, partnering with a local investor, will retain ownership of the building.

“Kōz is honored to form this long-term partnership with Everett Community College. This project allows the college to create a housing experience attractive to their students while utilizing our capital to build the facility. It is a win-win for everyone involved.” said Kōz president & CEO Cathy Reines.

This project will fulfill a long-standing goal of the college by providing high-quality student housing.

“We’re happy to see this project move forward,” said EvCC president David Beyer. “The partnership with Kōz will result in a high-quality facility that will help meet the growing demand for housing, especially for our international students.”

The building was designed after meeting with a group of current EvCC students.

“We appreciate the opportunity to meet and talk with the students. It is always interesting to hear what is important to them and to design the building with their needs and wants in mind,” said Joshua Scott, Kōz VP overseeing design and construction.

Everett-based Kirtley-Cole Associates will break ground on the project on October 19. A groundbreaking ceremony will take place on October 22, 2015 at 1:30.

Parking for Student Housing
The student housing site will include nine parking spots for residents on site, plus 31 dedicated parking spots in Lot I next to the building (the parking lot across from Lily's Garden Chinese restaurant). Residents will need to purchase an EvCC parking pass.

The college's experience with student housing at the Lona Vista apartments near Liberty Hall during the past four years is about a third of residents have cars because more than half of the residents are international students, said Pat Sisneros, EvCC vice president of College Services.

EvCC is also adding 60 more parking spaces in Lot K (College Plaza) and WSU will add 100 parking spots north of Lot L which will be available in Fall 2016.
