EVERETT, Wash. – Northwest Athletic Conference Director of Operations Garet Studer has been hired as Everett Community College’s new athletics director.

Studer replaces former athletic director Larry Walker, who retired in November.

“Larry Walker has laid a tremendous foundation and I could not be more excited to serve as the athletic director at such a prestigious institution,” Studer said. “I’m impressed with the fact that there are high expectations for athletics here at EvCC. It shows passion, commitment and pride for athletics and demonstrates a true sense of value for this department on campus.”

Studer begins work at EvCC July 31. Prior to NWAC, he worked for Clark College in Vancouver, Wash. as an instructor, director of intramurals, fitness center manager and assistant coach for the men’s basketball team.

Studer attended Clark as a student, playing basketball from 2004-06, then transferred to Washington State University for degrees in sports management and higher education administration.

EvCC has 11 athletic teams including basketball, soccer, cross country, track and field, softball, volleyball and baseball. Studer said he’s excited to build support for Trojan athletics.

“Everything I’ve learned about Everett Community College gives me nothing but confidence for the future. As a steward of the program, I look forward to building something special alongside the Everett campus and community,” Studer said.
