EvCC student housing building named Mountain View

Kōz Development, Inc. President & CEO Cathy Reines and EvCC student Jeff Noyes, who suggested the winning name for EvCC’s new student housing building, Mountain View.

EVERETT, Wash. – Jeff Noyes has only attended Everett Community College for two quarters, but he’s already made college history.

Noyes, 20, of Lake Stevens suggested the winning name for the college’s new student housing building: Mountain View. He wins $250 from the developer, Kōz Development, Inc., and decades of bragging rights. Mountain View will open in September.

“Every day that it's sunny I see the mountains, and I want to go hiking. The view from the new building made me think of hiking in the North Cascades,” the mechanical engineering major said.

EvCC received 50 entries for the contest to name the building, said Student Housing Director Lea Wasson. The college’s student housing committee selected Mountain View “because most of the buildings on campus are named after mountains and the new building overlooks them all. Plus, it has a beautiful view of the actual mountains,” she said.

The building is owned by Kōz Development, Inc., a Snohomish-based real estate development and architecture firm, and a local investor. Mountain View will be managed by EvCC. The residence hall includes 120 student rooms, common areas for the residents to gather and an outside courtyard.

EvCC is accepting applications now to live in Mountain View Fall quarter. So far, the college has received 40 applications, Wasson said. Applicants must be EvCC students (applied and accepted; can start Fall 2016). To apply, go to EverettCC.edu/Housing.
