Everett Community College’s students, faculty, and staff join our community in mourning the loss of Everett Police Officer Dan Rocha, who was killed in the line of duty next to our campus yesterday.

Officer Rocha spent most of his career patrolling north Everett, the home of EvCC’s main campus. At the time of his death, he was working to prevent danger near the doorsteps of two of our student housing buildings with hundreds of EvCC students and employees inside. We are grateful for his protection, and we stand with Officer Rocha’s wife, two sons, extended family and his fellow officers in their grief.

From the entire Trojan Nation, our hearts are with you. Our college honors your service and remembers your sacrifice. Flags at EvCC have been lowered to half mast in your memory.

Officer Rocha was killed Friday at Starbucks on Broadway across from EvCC’s Cedar Hall and Mountain View Hall. The college was briefly in lockdown while police responded.

The college is on Spring Break, and no classes were in session at the time of the lockdown. No students, faculty, or staff were hurt and the incident has ended. There is no current risk to the campus. We appreciate the service and support of EvCC security officers during this incident.
