EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Community College students returning from Spring Break will notice a new addition to the Index Lawn - a herd of Trojan goats.

The 81 goats arrived today, in advance of the start of Spring quarter on April 4. With the addition of the herd, EvCC will add four new classes for Spring: Goat Yoga, Basic Goat Care and Maintenance, Economics of Goat Herd Management and Reading to Goats. Goat yoga.

The college will also host guest readers for the herd for the new “G.O.A.T.s Read to Goats” program, including Serena Williams, Tom Brady, Simone Biles and Wayne Gretzky.

Students, employees and visitors are not allowed to feed or pet the goats, except for supervised stress relief events during finals week. Unless you are enrolled in the Goat Care class, instructors will not accept “the goats ate my homework” as an excuse for missing assignments.

The herd will also assist with landscaping across campus and are available for rent for yard work through Conference Services (transportation of the goats is not included).

Due to neighbors’ concerns about noise, the goats have been instructed to quiet their bleats from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
