EVERETT, Wash. – Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Joe M. Davis II to Everett Community College’s Board of Trustees. Davis, a decorated U.S. Army veteran, Deputy Sheriff with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, and first-generation college graduate, brings a wealth of experience in public service and community engagement to the role.

Davis’ military career included advanced training in military intelligence, deployment to Iraq, and service at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. His transition to civilian life was marked by a commitment to serving others, first as an EMT and later as a deputy sheriff. Davis is a proud community college graduate who began his higher education journey at Pierce College before transferring to the University of Washington Tacoma, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences.

“Trustee Davis exemplifies the power of education to transform lives,” said EvCC President Chemene Crawford, Ed.D. “His dedication to public service and his inspiring journey from community college student to a leader in law enforcement and civic engagement make him an invaluable addition to our Board of Trustees.”

In addition to his career achievements, Davis has volunteered with and consulted for nonprofits throughout the region, advocating for education, diversity, and community connections.

“As a trustee, I am honored to serve Everett Community College’s students, faculty, and staff,” Davis said. “My own experience as a community college student shaped the person I am today, and I am committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and achieve their goals.”

Davis is replacing outgoing Trustee Toraya Miller, who was honored and recognized for her 10 years of dedicated service to the college as a trustee during the Jan. 21, 2025, Board of Trustees meeting. The college is deeply grateful for Toraya’s many contributions and leadership over the past decade.
