EVERETT, Wash. – Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Toraya Miller to Everett Community College’s Board of Trustees.

Miller, of Lake Stevens, is Vice-President/Internal Auditor at Coastal Community Bank and the chair of the board for United Way Snohomish County.

“As a trustee, I’ll continue Everett Community College’s commitment to excellence, dedication to diversity and innovation while encouraging engagement in higher education.  I’m excited and honored to share in this opportunity.”

She has also been involved with North County Family Services, Domestic Violence Services, Ryan's House, Cocoon House, Edmonds Community College Veterans Center and the Community Foundation of Snohomish County (formerly Greater Everett Community Foundation).

“Toraya’s business expertise and her decades of community service make her an outstanding addition to the college’s board,” EvCC President David Beyer said. “We look forward to working with her.”

Miller attended DeAnza Community College in Cupertino, Calif., then graduated from the American Bankers Association National Intermediate Compliance School, the American Bankers Association National Graduate School of Compliance Risk Management and University of Washington’s Pacific Coast Banking School.

Miller replaces trustee James Shipman. Her term is from November 2015 to September 2020.

EvCC’s Board of Trustees meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the college’s Henry M. Jackson Center.
