EVERETT, Wash. – Retired Everett Community College History instructor Tom Gaskin and his wife Sue are donating $100,000 to the EvCC Foundation to start a Student Success Fund.

The fund will be used to provide one-time funding for students with emergencies, including tuition, fees, books, bus passes or other items that will help them stay in school.

“Everett Community College changes lives for the better. Sometimes students just need a bit of help to reach their goals,” Tom Gaskin said.

The Gaskins are both educators. Tom Gaskin, Ph. D., taught at EvCC for 36 years before his retirement in 2012. Sue Gaskin is a retired elementary school teacher who spent 22 of her 32 years teaching in the Everett School District.

“This donation will help a lot of students who need short-term financial assistance. Tom and Sue know the value of education, and we are thrilled and grateful that they chose to support students at Everett Community College” said John Olson, Executive Director of the EvCC Foundation.

Students who need assistance can contact the EvCC Foundation at Foundation@everettcc.edu.
