Public notice of comprehensive accreditation evaluation visit for EvCC

Press Release

Date: July 8, 2024

EVERETT, Wash. – The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities will perform a comprehensive evaluation visit for Everett Community College Oct. 9-11, part of the routine, seven-year accreditation cycle for the college.

Prior to the visit, EvCC invites members of the community to send any comments about the college’s accreditation directly to NWCCU no later than Sept. 29.

There are two ways to submit comments. Mail comments to Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, 8060 165th Ave. NE, Suite 200 in Redmond, WA, 98052, or submit comments online at nwccu.org/upcoming-evaluations

During the October visit, called the year-seven comprehensive Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (EIE), the NWCCU evaluation team will meet with EvCC students, faculty, staff and board of trustees members to evaluate the college’s compliance with NWCCU accreditation standards and policies.

Everett Community College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.  The NWCCU’s most recent action on EvCC’s accreditation status on Jan. 24, 2018 was to reaffirm accreditation.

Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality evaluated through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation. The full NWCCU Standards for Accreditation can be found on their website at nwccu.org/standards.
