Agenda 

Who:

Full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and administrators interested in the development of learning community courses.

When:

January 17-19 (Friday evening through Sunday morning)

Where:

Walla Walla College Marine Station at Rosario Beach.

The facility is located on Rosario Beach next to Deception Pass State Park and is approximately one hour from Everett.  From your cabin you can view the Straits of Juan de Fuca, the Olympic Mountains, Vancouver Island, and The San Juan Islands.

Preliminary Agenda:

 

  • Types of learning communities.
  • Starting a learning community at EvCC.
  • Effective small group discussions in learning communities.
  • Assessment techniques for learning community courses.
  • Developing the learning community initiative at EvCC.
  • Unstructured time to explore possible connections between courses, to finalize plans for a learning community, or to pursue any other purpose that advances the learning community initiative at EvCC.

Cost:

The Learning Communities Committee will pay for food and lodging.  All you provide is transportation.
