Ceramics courses develop the fundamental skills needed to manipulate the ceramic medium. The principles of art as they pertain to ceramics are conveyed through language, technical information, and active engagement in various forming methods. Projects are structured to develop physical skills, style, and an understanding of functional and sculptural aesthetics. Workshops and advanced courses cover topical techniques and processes including wheel throwing, alternative firing methods and systems, experimental design, glaze chemistry and development, Majolica, low-fired ceramic processes and sculpture.
