Graphic designers use art and technology to communicate ideas. They work with a variety of tools in order to convey a message from a client to their audience.
Design for interactive media such as websites and hand-held devices takes on many different forms and can range from information architecture, graphics, art, interactivity, and user interface design.
Degree Intent
Upon completion of the ATA Degree in Graphic and Web Design, students are ready to work as professionals in the field of graphic and web design and have competency in a broad range of conceptual, formal, and technological skills.
Outcomes
- Ability to create and develop visual response to communication problems, including understanding of hierarchy, typography, aesthetics, composition and construction of meaningful images
- Ability to solve communication problems including identifying the problem, researching, analysis, solution generating, prototyping, user testing and outcome evaluation
- Ability to respond to audience contexts recognizing physical, cognitive, cultural and social human factors that shape design decisions
- Understanding of and ability to utilize tools and technology
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic business practices, including the ability to organize design projects and to demonstrate ability to work productively as a member of a team
