You can earn your associate degree at Everett Community College or elsewhere, then enroll in the new bachelor of applied science accounting degree program, which is taught by EvCC faculty. The next cohort starts in Fall Quarter: September 2025.

What is a bachelor of applied science degree?
A BAS is a bachelor's degree that provides more career-focused skills and less theoretical education than a traditional bachelor's degree. BAS programs are typically more affordable and designed for working adults.
Who is this degree for?
Anyone who wants to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting in Snohomish County. You may be earning your associate degree or already working in the accounting field. Our students can go on to become CPAs (certified public accountants), personal financial advisors, tax preparers, actuaries, auditors and credit analysts. Entry Level pay could range from $27.66 to $37.94 an hour, according to our advisory board.
What courses and degrees do I need before being admitted to the program?
One of the following is required:

Accounting ATA (non-transfer) (90 credits)

Business AAS - DTA university transfer degree (90 credits)

AAS-DTA General Transfer Degree (90 credits)
- 90 equivalent credits that represent the combination of program admission required courses and other transferable college-level credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 prior to being admitted
AND the following courses must be completed before Fall Quarter:
- Accounting 112: Federal Income Taxation I (offered winter and spring at EvCC) (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- Accounting 250: Intermediate Accounting I (offered spring and summer at EvCC) (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- ACCT& 201: Principles of Accounting I (offered fall, winter, spring and summer at EvCC) (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- ACCT& 202: Principles of Accounting II (offered fall, winter, spring and summer at EvCC) (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- ACCT& 203: Principles of Accounting III (offered fall, winter, spring and summer at EvCC) (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- 5 credits of English Composition (ENGL& 101 or ENGL& 102) (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- 5 credits of college-level math (MATH& 107 or higher) (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- 10 credits of natural science, social science or humanities

Trae Tinglestad
Trae Tingelstad is one of Everett Community College’s first bachelor’s degree students. He chose EvCC for its affordability and closeness to home and decided to stay when EvCC launched the Bachelor of Applied Science in Accounting degree. “People think that community college isn’t as in-depth, but EvCC has a vast variety of programs in which one can pursue their career goals,” he said.
Natalie VanWinkle
After earning her associate degree at EvCC, Natalie VanWinkle chose to continue at the college as part of the first Bachelor of Applied Science in Accounting class. She said her instructors and the Tutoring Center are positive influences on her educational journey. When it comes to her instructors, she says, “They see the best in their students and their main goal is to help them succeed.”
