Program Map for Business DTA/MRP
Students interested in earning a bachelor’s degree in majors such as finance, accounting, business administration, marketing, or management can complete the first half of a university program by completing this degree. This degree is the pathway to a four-year business degree.
Faculty advisors for the Associates in Business DTA/MRP program are listed below. If you have been assigned an advisor please work with them, otherwise you can choose any of the advisors below.

The Universities in the State of Washington that are a party to this DTA/MRP are: University of Washington, Washington State University, Western Washington University, Central Washington University, Seattle University, Pacific Lutheran University, and Seattle Pacific University. Students must complete 90 credits to be awarded the Business DTA degree. Students must earn a grade of C (2.0) or above in all specifically named required courses.

Prepare for college-level math
If your math placement is below MATH 138, you’ll need to take the following sequence of courses, starting from the level you placed into:
- TS 60 → TS 70 → MATH/TS 76 → MATH/TS 86 → MATH 96
Prepare for college-level English
If your English placement is below ENGL& 101, you’ll need to take following sequence of courses, starting from the level you placed into:
- ENGL/TS/AEP 97 → ENGL/TS/AEP 98
Note: English language learners may need additional courses before ENGL/TS 97 depending on their placement.
Take COLL 101 - College Success in your first quarter to prepare for the pace and rigor of college.
Before registering each quarter, check your Degree Planner to see what classes you should take to stay on track. See your faculty program advisor with any questions you have.
Recommended Actions
- Looking for more support and assistance by phone, tablet, or computer? Visit the Online Student Support and Resources page.
- Do you qualify for Financial Aid? Fill out a FAFSA or WASFA and visit the Financial Aid Office to begin talking about how to pay for college.
- Visit the Tutoring Center, Writing Center, and the Library.
- Consider registering for a study skills class offered by DEVED department.
- Get involved with Student LIFE and join a campus club, such as the Study Abroad club or a language club.
- See if you qualify for TRiO, MESA, scholarships, or support from CDS

Complete college-level courses. Focus on those that fit in the Business DTA Pathway so that if you change to another DTA program, most of the credits you’ve earned will apply to your new goal.

Take a lab-science from the approved list on the AAS DTA (See Part A under VI. NATURAL SCIENCES DISTRIBUTION)
Take BUS& 101*: Introduction to Business or any Social Science course from the approved list on the AAS DTA (See V. SOCIAL SCIENCES DISTRIBUTION)
Take a Humanities course. CMST& 210 - Interpersonal Communication and
CMST& 220 - Public Speaking are recommended. Important Notes:
- A Humanities D-course will also fulfill the diversity requirement.
- Students with an interest in a specific industry (music, photography, art) should consider that topic for their humanities credit.
- If you are applying to UW, consider a language course if you have not already completed the language requirements. Students applying to the UW must have two years of a foreign language in high school or two quarters in college. Only one quarter of foreign language can count toward the Business DTA.
- Business DTA students may not take more than 5 restricted Humanities courses from the AAS DTA to meet the required 15 credits in Humanities.
- Business DTA students may not take more the 10 Humanities credits from the same discipline.
- Only Humanities courses listed on the AAS DTA can count toward the Business DTA.
Complete 5 credits of electives. BT 242 - Excel or an elective that matches specific requirements of your intended transfer university is recommended. (COLL 101 - College Success can count for 2 of the 5 credits)
Recommended Actions
Check back in with your faculty program advisor to discuss if this is the right program for you and update your plan of study as needed.
- If you haven't already, join a club that aligns with your interest, such as Business Club.
Complete specific degree requirements and begin preparing for graduation and transfer. If you change to another program in this phase, some credits earned may not apply to your new program.
Take another natural science from the approved list on the AAS DTA (See Part A and Part B under VI. NATURAL SCIENCES DISTRIBUTION)
Take two more Humanities courses (See Phase Two for notes on Humanities courses)
Take MATH& 146 - Introduction to Statistics

Check back in with your faculty program advisor to discuss transfer options and career opportunities.
- Decide which university you will transfer to as several have additional course requirements that vary from the basic DTA. Remember to discuss this with your adviser so you can make the right plan.
Complete all remaining degree/certificate requirements before you graduate and transfer.
Take the Principles of Accounting Series: ACCT&201 → ACCT& 202 → ACCT& 203
Take ECON& 201 - Micro Economics and ECON& 202 - Macro Economics (May be taken in any order.)
Take BUS& 201 - Business Law
Apply for graduation at least one quarter in advance.
- Apply to transfer university. Application deadlines vary—start preparing at least three quarters prior to desired transfer date.
