Program Map for Medical Assisting
The certificate and degree are designed for direct career entry; the degree may also be transferable to certain bachelor’s degree programs. On EvCC’s campus, Central Washington University offers the Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM), and accepts the AAS-T in Medical Assisting in transfer.
Note: Successful completion of Everett Community College's accredited program, along with passage of one of the five national certification exams, meets Washington State requirements to legally work as a medical assistant.

Prepare for college-level math If your math placement is below MATH 76, you’ll need to take the following sequence of courses, starting from the level you placed into: TS 60 → TS 70
Prepare for college-level English
If your English placement is below ENGL& 98, you’ll need to take the following sequence of courses, starting from the level you placed into: ENGL/TS/AEP 97 → ENGL/TS/AEP 98
Note: English language learners may need additional courses before ENGL/TS 97 depending on their placement.
Begin getting any vaccines required. Consult with the Health Professions Service Center. These can take up to nine months to complete.
Take CL 101 - Computer Literacy if you are not confident in your computer skills. Students are strongly advised to possess computer skills that include word-processing, file-saving and transfer, internet and email use. Lack of competence in these skills may result in an inability to complete program requirements.
Before registering for your third quarter, create a Mandatory Educational Plan with your faculty advisor. Check your Degree Planner to see what classes you should take to stay on track. See your faculty program advisor with any questions you have.

Complete college-level courses. Focus on those that fit in the Healthcare Pathway so that if you change to another Healthcare program, most of the credits you’ve earned already will apply to your new goal.

Take HLTH 242 - Principles of Phlebotomy NOTE: All immunizations must be completed. Must be taken concurrently with HTLH 241 and HLTH 243. Instructor Permission required.
Take HLTH 243 - Clinical Skills - Ambulatory NOTE: All immunizations must be completed. Must be taken concurrently with HTLH 241 and HLTH 242. Instructor Permission required.
Apply for graduation while taking HLTH 241, 242, and 243.
All students will be required to complete a national background check. The instructor will provide full instructions when students are enrolled in HLTH 241, 242, 243.
Take HLTH 251 - Clinical Practicum. You must ensure vaccines and background checks are completed before taking HLTH 251.
