Transferring Credits to EvCC Criminal Justice

Transfer Procedure

If you are interested to transfer into EvCC’s Criminal Justice program, we recommend that you first review the Transfer Guidelines (see next section below) and the current Checklist to get a general idea of how much of your previous coursework will apply towards the degree.

However, for an official evaluation, to be issued transfer credit, and to find out how many remaining courses you will need to complete the degree, you must follow these steps (please note that this process takes up to 10 weeks, so plan accordingly):

  1. If you have not previously enrolled in EvCC, you must first apply for admission, which only takes a few minutes online. Please visit Get Started for complete enrollment steps, including online orientation, and math and English placement options.
  1. You will need to submit a Transfer Credit Evaluation   to the EvCC Office of Credential Evaluation at Enrollment Services.
    • First, gather transcripts of all of your past coursework:
official transcripts for past college coursework: provide electronic copied to registration@everettcc.edu or have printed copied mailed to the address on the form
—scans or photocopies of professional training certifications (each must include the number of training hours) emailed to registration@everettcc.edu with "Transfer Credit Evaluation + Your Name" in the subject line.

  2. Our program advisors can work with you to identify the first courses you can register for in your chosen program (www.everettcc.edu/classes), which will allow your transfer request to finish processing so that you can receive an official transfer report. (EvCC will only award transfer credit to students who have registered for at least 1 credit at the college.)

Transfer Guidelines

Transfer Credit Limits

  • An associate degree consists of 90 credits. Of these 90 credits, at least 30 credits must be completed at Everett Community College, while up to 60 credits can be transferred in.
  • Of these 60 transfer credits, a maximum of 30 can come from professional training certificates (non-academic credit), while the remainder can come from prior college courses from other institutions (academic credit).

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)

EvCC's Criminal Justice program has an agreement with the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission to allow 20 college-level credits for successful completion of the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement (or Corrections) Academy. These 20 credits will be applied to specific courses in EvCC's Associate of Applied Science - Transfer (AAS-T) degree curriculum. Please follow the instructions above for the Transfer Credit Evaluation  for instructions.
