E-STEM: Equity in STEM Scholarship Program
In 2021, EvCC received a 6-year long grant for $1.5M from the National Science Foundation to establish a program to support increasing student success in STEM fields. This scholarship program provides up to $7500 each year of monetary support and other support to help students reach their academic goals. It is renewable annually while at EvCC with continued eligibility.
The E-STEM Program includes
- Annual renewable scholarships of up to $7500 for qualifying STEM majors
- One-on-one mentoring (peer mentoring for first-year students, alumni mentoring for second-year students)
- Academic Excellence Workshops to support your success in STEM classes
- Targeted advising with one of the PI/Co-PIs of the grant.
- Field trips each quarter to explore industry, transfer institutions, and to build community
- Other activities to build community
- Professional development for STEM faculty and staff to increase equity in the classroom
Minimum eligibility for the program:
- US citizen, permanent resident, US national, or admitted refugee

Majoring in STEM at EvCC: Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics/Astronomy, Earth Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science (any STEM major that requires you to take Calculus).
- Students majoring in nursing, allied health fields or other non-STEM fields (Business, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Geography, etc) are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Cumulative college-level GPA of 3.0 or higher or 2.5 with a teacher recommendation.
- Low-income status (as determined by FAFSA). This means you need to have submitted the FAFSA for this school year.
