Voices of EvCC - Ted Keaton

Ted Keaton Ted Keaton attended Everett Junior College in 1958. He had graduated in 1955 from Snohomish High School, joined the army, and then went to work.

After being laid off from a job where he thought he would be secure his whole working life, he decided to come back to school.

He eventually became an elementary school teacher, specializing in reading.

Twelve years later, in 1970, Ted returned to what was now Everett Community College as a reading Instructor. At the time, courses for students who were returning to school from different walks of life such as refugees from a foreign country, single mothers, etc, were lacking and Ted helped to develop and coordinate classes in adult basic education, GED, high school completion, ESL, and U.S. Citizenship both on campus and at many off-campus sites. He is now retired.

Ted’s most memorable experience at Everett Community College was when he first came to Everett Junior College as a returning student. Listen to the story of his first quarter here. Audio Icon
