Voices of EvCC - Larry O'Donnell

Everett historian and author Larry O'Donnell graduated from Everett High School in 1955 and attended Everett Junior College in 1955-56, continuing on to graduate from Western Washington University in 1959.

He worked for the Everett School District for 30 years, working as a teacher, counselor, vice principal, principal and for the building program.

He is the author of several books, including "Everett Past and Present: A Centennial History of Everett."

Larry spoke about the college's history, including the college's 1947 undefeated football team, the creation of Everett Junior College, and the fire that destroyed the college's student union and library in 1987 - a blaze that killed Everett Firefighter Gary Parks.

When the college opened in 1941, it turned out to be an inopportune time because three months later, Pearl Harbor was bombed and this had serious impact on the college's enrollment. Listen to Larry's account of how the college survived this inauspicious beginning.
