Domestic Violence Awareness Week

As a community, it is our responsibility to spread and raise awareness regarding domestic violence that can happen to anyone, at any time, or anywhere. One way we can come together and support one another is participating in the The Clothesline Project located in Parks Student Union (209), open to all from October 21 - October 25. There will be an information table in Parks Student Union with resources about domestic violence and the opportunity to create your very own paper mini-t-shirt to add to the Clothesline Project. If you or someone you know is being affected by domestic violence, get help now 425-252-2873.

A donation bin with a wish list of items requested for donation will be located in Student LIFE Office, PSU 209 during open hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm). CLICK HERE for suggested donations. These donations will benefit the Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County. Make sure to wear purple to increase awareness about domestic violence!

Within the same week there will be an "Intergenerational Violence" Workshop being held in Gray Wolf Hall (364) located in Gray Wolf Hall (364) on Thursday, October 24 from 1-2pm. This workshop is presented by Domestic Violence Prevention Education/Community Outreach Coordinator Gina Loh. “Intergenerational Violence and Breaking the Cycle” will explore ways violence is normalized through attitudes and belief systems. Participants will explore difference influences that enable violent behavior across generations, through identification of risk and protective factors. The goal of the workshop is to re-examine the ways violence is justified in relationships, and to develop ways we can serve as healthy relationship role models. Free snacks will be provided. Together, with your help, we can create a world where domestic violence is a term of ancient history.
