EvCC Weather Closure Process

EvCC's Weather Advisory Group will monitor weather conditions overnight and will communicate delays or closures to the campus community. The team will continue to monitor weather conditions and will communicate updates to the college as needed.

The process for any weather related incidents will include the following:

The Weather Advisory Group will have a conference call at 9 p.m. the evening before classes to assess weather conditions and again at 4:30 a.m. the day of classes to make a recommendation about closure or delay.

Based on the recommendation of the Weather Advisory Group, the president will decide if the college should remain open, delay, or close. Every effort will be made to post closure information by 5 a.m. for day classes and 4 p.m. for evening classes via RAVE (text, e-mail, EvCC website, and social media), the college's main phone line (x9100), and FlashAlert (news media notification). Messages will only be posted if the college is closed.

Please keep in mind that due to changing weather conditions, the Weather Advisory Group will continue to monitor the weather, and the college will be updated as needed. It is our intent to make decisions that give students and employees enough time to travel to campus if needed with safety as our highest priority.

Safety for students, employees and visitors is the most important factor in these decisions. This is the college’s Emergency Campus Closure Advisory policy. Students and employees must judge for themselves the safety of traveling to the college. We ask everyone to make their own decisions based on their safety. The college makes its weather-related schedule determination independent of local school districts. Students and employees are advised not to assume local school district decisions reflect the status of EvCC operations.
