Getting a Visa

How to apply for a student visa

*Note: Due to COVID-19 and travel restrictions that are posed on various countries, it is best to consult with International Education office regarding immigration regulation and its updates.

  1. First, you must apply for admission to Everett CC as a full-time international student.
  2. Once admitted, you will receive an admission packet, which has your I-20, admission letter, and orientation schedule. Please carefully review these documents to help prepare you for your visa interview.
  3. Pay SEVIS Fee* with a completed form I-901, and keep the receipt for your visa application and interview.
  4. (*Not everyone will need to pay. The I901 fee is $350 US dollars and is subject to change by the federal government.)
  5. Find the nearest U.S. Embassy or consulate in your home country, apply for a visa and schedule your interview.
  6. Prepare to answer questions at the interview. We recommend you look at the NAFSA Visa interview tips here as your prepare for your interview: https://www.nafsa.org/professional-resources/browse-by-interest/10-points-remember-when-applying-student-visa
  7. Bring the admission packet and other materials (SEVIS Fee receipt, bank statement, your education record, etc.) to your visa interview. You can apply for a visa 90 days before school starts, but we recommend that you should apply as early as possible.
