Cafecito con Pan

October 5
10:00am
to
1:00pm

Cafecito con Pan is an event to honor the influence, history, and culture that has been passed down from past generations coming from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central, and South America. Part of the first generation experience is having to navigate college! Sometimes it can feel like we are a baby learning how to swim for the first time. While also keeping in mind the opportunities our elders didn’t have, which can be alot for us to carry. It can make us feel likethere is more pressure to succeed and can impact our mental health.

In this event we hope to unite all students in a safe and open space where everyone can sit down, have conversations with other students, share experiences and enjoy a shared tradition of having a piece of pan dulce (sweet bread) with a warm beverage! Cafecito con Pan is so simple yet so impactful in a way where all students can connect and talk about their experiences with each other, give tips, resources, and connect with people who may have the same shared
experiences!

Besides cafe and pan there will also be music, and traditional games such as Loteria! You can compare loteria to bingo! This event is for Everyone! So We hope you can join us from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the PSU cafe on Wednesday, October 5th!

Come and enjoy some pan dulce, meet new people, play games, and enjoy great music!

For more information on this event, please contact Elsa Sanchez, Trojan Activities Board Coordinator, esanchez@everettcc.edu ,or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at lhudson@everettcc.edu or (425) 388-9508.

If you are a person with a disability and needs accommodation in connection with this event, contact the Center for Disability Services at least 5 days in advance at 425-388-9272 or cds@everettcc.edu.

LIFE Advisor Lindsay Hudson, at lhudson@everettcc.edu or (425) 388-9508. SNO Blood Drive

October 12
9:00am
to
2:00pm

Mark your calendars! The Student Nursing Organization (SNO) has teamed up with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 9AM-2PM right here at the EvCC Henry M. Jackson Conference Center. Each person who donates will be receiving a $5 gift card to a merchant of choice.

Online: RedCrossBlood.org
Enter: SNOECC

Call: 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767)

Did you know that the American Red Cross supplies 40% of the nations blood supply? The pandemic has caused the most severe blood shortage in over a decade, and now more than ever donations are needed. Prior to the pandemic students made up 25% of all donations in 2019, but now make up just 10% due to campus closures across the nation.

Donated blood impacts patients all across the US including burn victims, trauma patients, the chronically ill, and those fighting cancer. We encourage everyone willing and able to join us in donating blood and give the gift of life.

SNO provides networking, activities, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach for the nursing students of Everett Community College. We also welcome students who are interested in nursing and want to learn more about the nursing program.

Cleaning Up & Restoring the Snohomish River w/ Doug Ewing

October 12
1:30pm

Students for Environmental Action (SEA) Club is pleased to invite you for a talk on “River Health”!

Get inspiration to make environmental impacts in YOUR OWN WAY this Wednesday, at 1:30pm in Monte Cristo Hall, Room 111 at Cleaning Up & Restoring the Snohomish River w/ Doug Ewing. Doug has been featured on KOMO News and the Everett Herald for his work.

Doug Ewing, an environmental activist and hero, will be speaking about his efforts to clean up the Snohomish River near where he lives. The main areas of concern with respect to local rivers center on reducing input of garbage, removing existing garbage, ending the use of lead in the sports of fishing and hunting, and making a true assessment of the impact to riparian health from motorized watercraft.

The Students for Environmental Action Club actively works to promote environmental awareness and take action to address climate change.

     “I smell... Hocus Pocus!”

Brooms ready, Trojans! This Halloween, join us as we stir the cauldron and explore the world of Hocus Pocus! I smell people sneaking around in the search for the best costume and checking out EvCC’s many clubs and getting ready for our annual Halloween Club Fest. The most frightening day of the year is going to take place in Jackson Center on Monday, October 31st, 2022 from 12:00 - 3:00 PM. Join the fun and get some goodies and learn how to get involved on campus while checking out the tables hosted by your EvCC clubs while grooving to the beat of the LIVE DJ and enjoy making a halloween craft.

The world of Hocus Pocus becomes more frightening when we start our annual costume contest at 1 PM. EvCC Students, be dressed to impress and compete for some awesome prizes in our Halloween Costume Contest! Choose the category of your choice to win one of three prizes for the best witch/wizard costume, funniest costume and the scariest costume. The winners of each category will get a $50 VISA gift card! Every contestant will get a goodie bag just for participating.

This year we are also bringing an altruistic spirit to Halloween! The students who donates 5 non perishable items to the Food Pantry will get entered into a drawing to receive FREE MOVIE TICKETS! The club who donates the most food to the Food Pantry will receive $50 added to their club budget!

Spell casted, Trojans! See you on the other side...
