First Generation College Celebration-TRIO Open House |
November 8 1:00pm |
Join us for a walk-through Open House to celebrate First Generation College Students in TRIO and at EVCC from 1-3 p.m. Activities planned from a photo booth to intention bracelets hosted by the TRIO staff and Trojan Activities Board! The First-Gen celebration honors the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which emerged out of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. Much like other hallmark legislation of that era, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, HEA was intended to help level a playing field that for too long had been weighed against Americans from minority and low-income backgrounds. In addition to creating federal grants and loan programs to help students finance their educations, the legislation made key investments in institutions of higher education. Additionally, HEA ushered in programs, particularly the Federal TRiO programs, necessary for postsecondary access, retention, and completion for low-income, potential first-generation college graduates. |

Painting can soothe the soul and nothing is more satisfying than seeing an idea come to life at the end of the creative process. So come join us as the Trojan Activities Board (TAB) presents our first de-stress event of the year, Breaks & Brushes! TAB is planning to host a variety of events throughout the year, where students can learn, make new friends and have fun! Breaks & Brushes is no exception! Come grab a canvas and a brush and let's see what you can create! TAB will provide FREE painting supplies such as acrylic paints, canvases, paint brushes, mini easels, and transfer paper for tracing! FREE snacks and drinks will also be provided at the event! The event will be hosted in the Parks Student Union cafeteria on Wednesday, November 30th from 12 to 3 pm. So bring a friend or two, and relax with us by making some fantastic paintings! For more information on this event, please contact Darya Chhuon, TAB Coordinator, at cchhuon@everettcc.edu or Student LIFE Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at lhudson@everettcc.edu or (425) 388-9508. If you are a person with a disability and need an accommodation in connection with this event, contact the Center for Disability Services at least 5 days in advance at 425-388-9272 or cds@everettcc.edu.
