In Everett Community College’s nationally accredited medical assistant program, you can prepare for the certified medical assistant (CMA) exam in 15-18 months.
Medical assistants in the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area earn on average $58,660 a year 
, working mainly in outpatient settings. Certified medical assistants typically earn more than those trained at clinics or hospitals. Signing bonuses of $5,000 or more are common for CMAs, according to local job searches.

Accreditation Information
EvCC’s Medical Assisting Certificate Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). It’s one of the nation's best based on the percentage of students who pass the national examination (about 83%).
Standard II.A of the 2022 CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines minimum expectations: "To prepare medical assistants who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession."

Accreditation Announcements
Eligibility for Medical Assistant Licensure by State: May 2024
There are five states that require completion of formal medical assisting education as a prerequisite for working as a medical assistant or to be delegated certain tasks while working as a medical assistant: Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Arizona.
Student Completion and Retention Statistics
In accordance with MAERB accreditation standards, we are pleased to highlight specific data regarding the 2022 student completion and retention statistics.
1. Graduate 2022 Job Placement Rate: 80.77%
2. The five-year average for the CMA (AAMA) exam passage rate for 2018-2022 is 82.67%.
- National Certification Exams: Graduates must pass one of five exams in order to work in Washington State (RCW 18.360).
- Other exam results are not directly reported to the College.
There are a number of support services available to help students successfully complete the program.
