Information Technology Program

Why EvCC IT?

EvCC’s IT Program focuses on being a starting point for individuals interested in IT.  This can lead to job opportunities in tech support, networking, system admin, or cyber security.

EvCC faculty trains students on how to protect physical infrastructure from cyber attacks using real industrial components and networks. Students learn networking, hardware and software troubleshooting, identity management, and virtualization through lab environments that simulate real-world practices.

Earn up to two degrees and four certificates.

Preparing students for in-demand jobs, EvCC’s Information Technology program offers degrees and certificates in computer support, systems and network administration, cyber security, and cloud-based software and services.

Learn from experts.

In the information technology program, you'll learn from knowledgeable instructors with years of industry experience, like Ryan Masinelli, who was once a student in the program and has a background in systems administration, and Dennis Skarr, who performed cyber security missions and training for the National Guard for 10 years.

Most of our courses are aligned with an industry certification.

These are included within the course and include:

Students also have access to free tutoring and free education copies of Microsoft software and VMware products.

Our program includes a required internship.

We have partnerships with local business and government IT departments to offer competitive internship opportunities to our students. These placements can lead to full-time employment or provide needed experience for job placement after graduation.

Academic Credit for Prior Learning

The Information Technology department recognizes students often enter the program with job experience that may be worth credit. To help students get a jump start on their credit, Everett Community College offers credit for the following credentials:

To earn credit, create an account and log into Credit Predictor Pro. More information about credit for industry certifications and Credit Predictor Pro can be found on the EvCC ACPL website.

If a student has worked in information technology but does not have any formal credentials, they may still be eligible for college credit through a Prior Experiential Learning Portfolio. To earn credit, the student creates a portfolio that demonstrates how their learning applies to specific EvCC courses. An appropriate faculty member then evaluates the portfolio and awards credit.

For more information about the Prior Experiential Learning Portfolio process, visit the EvCC webpage or contact the ACPL Program Specialist at ACPL@everettcc.edu.
