Everett Community College celebrates 2024 honors graduates

EVERETT, Wash. - Everett Community College’s 2024 honors program graduates presented their final projects at the college’s honors forum on June 5. Honors graduates include Kai Decker, Chien Nguyen and Elishah Webb. The guest speaker at the honors forum was 2013 EvCC Outstanding Graduate Colby Droullard, who earned honors credits at EvCC and is now a major crimes detective with the Everett police department. 

Everett Community College honors outstanding employees

At Everett Community College’s annual Spring Awards held on June 3, 13 employees were honored with awards and employees were noted for hitting years of service milestones. Employees were honored in several categories: The George Shuh Awards, which recognize an outstanding faculty member, staff member and exempt employee, Diversity and Inclusion, Emerging Classified Staff, Distinguished Classified Staff, Extra Effort, and You Made a Difference Awards. 

Everett Community College’s graduation is June 9

Everett Community College’s 2024 graduation is at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at the Angel of the Winds Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave. in Everett. About 2,000 students are expected to graduate from EvCC with a degree or certificate in 2023-24. About 400 students are expected to participate in commencement.

Northbound 529 four-month closure to start June 9

The four-month closure of northbound SR 529 Snohomish River Bridge between north Everett near Everett Community College’s campus and Marysville is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 2, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Students honored by board of trustees for statewide awards

The Everett Community College board of trustees honored students who recently received statewide honors at their regular meeting May 21 at EvCC. Students Narjis Alshatee and Austin Au were named President’s Student Civic Leadership Award winners April 19 at a ceremony in Seattle. Students Shu Liu and Quynh Luu were honored April 25 at a ceremony in Olympia as members of the 2024 All-Washington Academic Team.

EvCC team competes for top prize in “Clash of Trades” reality show

A team of Everett Community College students will compete in the Clash of Trades machining reality series, hoping to take home the national title and a $100,000 prize. Three Advanced Manufacturing Training and Education Center (AMTEC) students, led by machining instructor and coach Darin Chase, will compete against three college teams in the National Clash of Trades Championship May 23-26 at Stewart-Haas Racing facility in Charlotte, N.C. The show will premiere this summer.

Everett Community College to induct 1 team, 6 individuals into Athletic Hall of Fame

Everett Community College will induct six former athletes and one team into the college’s Athletic Hall of Fame at a dinner June 6 at EvCC’s Walt Price Student Fitness Center. Current student athletes and teams of the year will also be recognized for academic and athletic excellence at the celebration. To attend, RSVP at EverettCC.edu/Athletics. The cost is $35 per adult and $20 per child age 12 and younger.

EvCC Foundation breakfast raises $105,000 to support student scholarships, college programs

The Everett Community College Foundation’s breakfast on April 16, 2024 raised $105,000 to support student scholarships and college programs.  More than 250 people attended the annual benefit.

Achieving the Dream names EvCC a national leader in student success

Achieving the Dream has named Everett Community College as a Leader College of Distinction for the second time, recognizing the college for sustained and significant outcomes in the advancement of student success and for narrowing equity gaps. EvCC is one of only 32 community and technical colleges nationwide to earn the honor. The college is one of two Leader Colleges of Distinction in Washington state. The other is Pierce College, the former home of EvCC’s incoming interim president, Darrell L. Cain. “I chose Everett Community College because students’ success is at the core of EvCC instruction, programs and services. I am excited to lead a college with a demonstrated commitment to excellence and equity,” Cain said. Achieving the Dream is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping more community college students, particularly low-income students and students of color, stay in school and earn a college certificate or degree. EvCC has partnered with Achieving the Dream since 2011. 

EvCC Adopts New Strategic Plan for 2022-27: Charting a Path Forward to Equity

Everett Community College's Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a new strategic plan for the college for 2022-2027. The plan, Charting a Path Forward to Equity, formally recognizes equity as the heart of EvCC's work. The strategic plan outlines how the college will hold itself accountable for ensuring student success and meeting the needs of our region. It includes four strategic priorities designed to fulfill the college’s institutional mission: Belonging, Student Ready, Sustainability, and Career-Connected. The plan was developed through a deliberate and inclusive planning effort to build on the foundation of the college’s past success with a lens toward a path forward to meet the rapidly changing needs of our students and their communities.
