Title III Strengthening Institutions Program Supporting Economic Mobility for Non-Traditional Students

In September of 2022, Everett Community College was awarded a competitive, 5 year grant from the Department of Education for $2.25 million dollars. The grant objectives outlined in the original application align with EvCC’s Strategic Plan initiatives, in particular the College’s commitment to lead with equity and ensure student success.

Title III SIP Strategies

Strategy 1: Develop Access to Resources and Affordability

  • Establish a consolidated, online, and on-site Student Resource Center

Strategy 2: Create More Flexibility

  • Expand, coordinate, and promote prior learning assessment (PLA) through an equity-minded lens
  • Create flexibility in scheduling and course taking to respond to the needs of non-traditional learners

Strategy 3: Support Seamless Transitions

  • Expand navigation services for students transitioning from developmental coursework to college-level degree Pathways
  • Establish an integrated Career and Experiential Learning Center
  • Expand supplemental and corequisite instruction
  • Expand corequisite course offerings in developmental Math and English

Title III SIP Objectives

Goal 1: Improve the rate at which students transition from pre-college coursework to college-level coursework

1.1 Increase the percentage of students that transition from pre-college to college-level coursework within one year as a result of providing coaching services and mechanisms to support flexible and accelerated learning.

Goal 2: Ensure career and experiential learning opportunities are scaffolded throughout all Pathways to provide consistent and just-in-time support

2.1 Develop internships, work-based and experiential learning, and/or undergraduate research opportunities in 50% prof tech degree programs and 25% academic degree programs.

2.2 Increase headcount of students enrolled in courses with internships or experiential learning attributes.

2.3 Increase percentage of students that report use of career exploration services.

Goal 3: Respond to the needs of non-traditional students using mechanisms to support flexible and accelerated learning

3.1 25% of students enrolling in pre-college coursework enroll in corequisite programming (IBEST and Math or English corequisite).

3.2 10% of adult students apply for and receive PLA credit each year, by September 30, 2026.

Goal 4: Develop a coordinated approach to resource access and distribution

4.1 Decrease the percentage of students that report not knowing how to apply for campus support because they did not know how to 40% by September 30, 2026.

4.2 Increase the percentage of students receiving any grant aid to 46% by September 30, 2026.
